EPL: Pep Guardiola slams Liverpool, Manchester United after signing Halaand

Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola, has again aimed another barb at Liverpool, questioning why their spending and sponsorship deals are judged differently.

Guardiola made headlines on Sunday when he hit out at the favouritism he feels Liverpool enjoy in England.

The Spaniard had also thrown in a dig at Liverpool's less-than-spectacular record in the Premier League across the last three decades.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, the former Barcelona coach switched his ire to the spending of his rivals, Manchester United and Liverpool, just hours after the Etihad landlords sealed a deal for Erling Haaland.

Asked why he feels there is a degree of snobbery attached to the perception of City's spending, Guardiola told Sky Sports: "Listen, Liverpool in the 1970s or 80s, or United with Sir Alex Ferguson - who spent more money?

"Who spent more money? It was Norwich? Norwich spent more money in that period?

"Or what other teams... Leicester? Leicester spent more money than them? No. They spent more money than the other ones. But the money from them is completely different than now."

Asked why that is, he replied: "I've said I'm not going to change that [perception].

"When we put it here [on the front of our shirts] Etihad, people say, 'Oh it's overpaid'. But now United and Liverpool are going to get paid maybe more than us, maybe deserved because they are working well, because the CEO negotiated well, whatever happened.

"They get more and because it's from the United States of America or another country - or the owners are - so now it's perfect.

"So that's why it's not going to change, for a long time it's not going to change, that is the reality. The only way we can change is do ing well on the pitch."

Barcelona: Without him, it's a lot more difficult

Barcelona coach, Xavi Hernandez, has admitted that without Lionel Messi in his squad, it is a lot more difficult for the Catalan club
Xavi said this during his pre-match press conference ahead of Barcelona's LaLiga tie with Rayo Vallecano on Sunday.

Recall that Messi, a former teammate with Xavi at Barcelona, left his boyhood club for Paris Saint-Germain last summer after the LaLiga giants were unable to renew his contract.

Asked how it's coaching Barca in this moment of crisis, Xavi acknowledged the difficulty without the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner in his squad.

"We are in the post-Messi era, we need to have a lot of patience. I was the first to aspire to winning all the trophies, but we have to reinforce for next season," Xavi said.

"We have to be realistic, calm and patient. Without Messi, it is a lot more difficult. The attitude of the team has been laudable, that is true.

"There are all kinds of moments. There have been moments of sci-fi, like that 4-0 [against Real Madrid] at the Bernabeu, but also moments of horror, like the COVID-19 situation or when we were ninth in La Liga. That is our reality and we've to face it."

EPL: Man United top star told to leave Stamford Bridge after conversation with Rangnick

Former Premier League star, Dimitar Berbatov, has told Manchester United striker Anthony Martial to leave Old Trafford.

However, he wants the France international to have an open and honest conversation with manager Ralf Rangnick about his future.

Martial's agent recently said his client wants to leave the club in the January transfer window as he needs to play more often.

The World Cup winner has made just four starts across all competitions for United this season and is yet to feature under new interim boss Rangnick due to a knee injury.

"I'm not surprised that Anthony Martial wants to leave Manchester United," Berbatov said via Metro.

"Martial needs to look for an exit and restart his career somewhere else. He needs to go somewhere he is loved and respected, he needs to feel that the manager trusts him.

''He is fit and ready to go but he isn't playing games. Martial is a good player and other clubs will want him. I don't blame him if he is looking to go somewhere else.

''I'd encourage Martial to go to Ralf Rangnick's office and tell him about his pain and say what he wants. Martial should have an honest conversation with Rangnick.

''I was expecting him to give more and more for United, but if it isn't working then he should go and look to pl ay somewhere else."

EPL: Premier League open investigation after Arsenal's 4-1 win at Leeds

The Premier League has opened an investigation into alleged racist abuse aimed at the Arsenal bench from Leeds supporters.

The incident happened on Saturday during the first half of Saturday's match at Elland Road.

Just after the half-hour mark, the Arsenal subs called over the fourth official and the Premier League has confirmed an allegation of racist abuse was reported by the visitors.

Arsenal beat Leeds 4-1 thanks to a double from Gabriel Martinelli and goals from Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe.

The win boosts Mikel Arteta's men chances of finishing in the top four, as they now have 32 points.

EPL: Tuchel told player to sign that'll solve Chelsea's major problem this season

Arsenal legend, Paul Merson, has told Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel, to sign Wolves star, Ruben Neves.

Merson believes Neves will solve Chelsea's major problem in midfield this season, adding that he is the type of player missing in Tuchel's midfield.

He stated this ahead of Chelsea's away Premier League tie with Wolves on Sunday.

"I think Chelsea are missing Neves," Merson said on Soccer Saturday.

"I think they are missing a player who can spray the ball round the pitch.

"[Mateo] Kovacic likes taking players on, Jorginho won't kick the ball further than 10 yards, just keeps it going, [N'Golo] Kante's an all-around-the-pitch kind of player.

"They have got no one who sprays the ball around, like a [James] Ward-Prowse or a Neves.

"The amount of times the other night when they made runs, the front three, where they ran and then they spun, and no one's hitting them, no one's hitting them.

"That's the problem for me, Chelsea need someone who's spraying the ball about.

"[Kante's] not going to hit that ball."

He added, "We're trying to get Wolves' best player to go to Chelsea."

Neves was linked with a move to Arsenal and Manchester United last summer transfer window but ended up staying at Wolves.

The Portuguese star has missed just one Premier League match this season due to suspension.

EPL: Man Utd star to leave Old Trafford because of Cristiano Ronaldo

Manchester United star, Mason Greenwood, is set to leave Old Trafford because of Cristiano Ronaldo's influence at the club.
According to El Nacional, Mason Greenwood is becoming increasingly not happy with the amount of influence Ronaldo has behind the scenes at Man United.

The England youngster has spent more time on the bench in recent games while Ronaldo's name is reportedly always first on the team sheet.
As a result, Greenwood could leave the Red Devils in the January transfer window and this only makes matters more complicated for Man United interim manager, Ralf Rangnick.

The report added that two members of staff hired under former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's regime are reportedly set to leave Old Trafford as well.

Man United are currently in the sixth position on the Premier League table with 27 points from 16 games.

Rangnick's men will face Newcastle United in their next Premier League game on December 27.

LaLiga reveals two Barcelona players that caused Messi's departure to PSG

LaLiga president, Javier Tebas, has said Lionel Messi could have stayed at Barcelona this season if the club did not sign Memphis Depay and Sergio Aguero.

Messi now plays for Paris Saint-Germain in France, after joining the club on a free transfer in the summer.

The 34-year-old left Nou Camp because Barca, whose gross debt is close to €1.4 billion, could not afford to renew his contract.

Barca president Joan Laporta revealed that the club could have kept Messi, if they agreed to LaLiga's offer to sell 10% of its business to CVC Capital Partners.

That deal would have been worth around €270 million to Barca, but they refused to sign off the sale.

Tebas has now explained how the deal would have allowed Barca to renew Messi's contract.

"I had dinner at Laporta's house and he agreed to sign the CVC agreement.

"I didn't know if Messi could renew because of that, but later I got a call [from Laporta]. 'Can we accelerate the CVC deal? The kid [Messi] is getting nervous,' he said.

"I told him: 'The day it comes out, Florentino is going to try and burst it.' And Laporta told me: 'No, no, I have character.' Florentino's behind it all, I have no doubt.

"There was an agreement that if [Barca] signed the CVC deal, they could have put 15% of the money towards signing players. In my opinion, they could have signed Messi.

"Laporta signed players like Memphis, Aguero... if he didn't sign those players, Messi could continue," Tebas told COPE.

EPL: Cavani breaks silence on Solskjaer's decision to drop him, Ronaldo's arrival

Manchester United striker, Edinson Cavani, has opened up on what has been a tough start to the season for him.

Cavani made his first start this term in the 1-1 draw with Everton on Saturday, after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took the decision to bench Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Uruguayan, who became United's first-choice striker last season, has now slipped down the pecking order following Ronaldo's arrival.

Cavani even gave up his no.7 shirt for the 36-year-old Ronaldo.

"In football, you have to always be ready. It's one of the keys at the top level.

"Sometimes you play more, sometimes you play less, managers make decisions, but that doesn't stop the work to always be competitive.

"The league has just started and I need to be, not quite like last year, but I'm there to be a part of it," Cavani told El Observador.

When asked about Ronaldo's arrival, he added: "Those are things that happen, a lot of debate is created, but football is football and you don't have to turn it around too much, it's not because one or the other is there.

"The important thing is to be prepared for when it's your turn, you always want to play, he wants to be there forever, but that is not going to change my way of thinking or acting."

I called Neymar tramp because he didn't pass to me - Mbappe

Paris Saint-Germain forward, Kylian Mbappe, has admitted calling his teammate Neymar a "tramp" during their 2-0 win over Montpellier last month.

Mbappe was caught on camera criticising Neymar after he was substituted and said: "This tramp, he never passes to me."

Speaking in an interview with L'Equipe, the 22-year-old confirmed he said those words.

He however insisted he has no issue with Neymar.

"Yes, yes, I said it. Now, these are things which happen all the time in football. It just needs to be something that doesn't linger.

"That's why, right after, given how it blew up, I spoke to him about it.

"We've exchanged a lot of words like that in the past and we'll continue to do so because we want to win, but there shouldn't be any hard feelings. There is no resentment at all because I respect the player and the man and I admire what he is," Mbappe said.

Mbappe complains about Neymar's passes after PSG's 2-0 win over Montpellier

Paris Saint-Germain forward, Kylian Mbappe, could not hide his displeasure towards his teammate Neymar, despite their 2-0 win over Montpellier on Saturday.

Idrissa Gueye and Julian Draxler scored for PSG, as they recorded their eighth consecutive victory in Ligue 1.

They have also stretched their lead at the top of the table to 10 points.

But Mbappe was caught on camera complaining to Gueye that Neymar doesn't give him the type of pass that led to Draxler's goal.

According to RMC Sport, Mbappe said: "He (Neymar) does not give me that pass."

Mbappe and Neymar both joined PSG in 2017 and have enjoyed success together at the club. But their relationship appears to have become strained this season.

Nevertheless, the Parisians are currently in fine form having won all eight league games this season - scoring 22 and conceding just seven in the process.

I will fight Tyson Fury without my belts - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua has insisted that a fight against Tyson Fury could still happen in the future, even without his world heavyweight titles.

Joshua lost his WBA, IBF and WBO belts to Oleksandr Usyk via a unanimous decision at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday night.

A rematch with Usyk has now been confirmed by his promoter, Eddie Hearn.

But Joshua feels he can still fight Fury with or without his world titles.

"As I said, I'll fight Tyson Fury, Wilder, without the belts.

"The belts are fun. It's great, it's a legacy. But with or without the belts, I'll fight whoever. The road to undisputed is a nice title to have and a nice title to chase.

"But would you still watch it, without the belts?

"That's the main thing - is you've got two competitive fighters in the ring from UK soil, that just want to go toe-to-toe," Joshua said at the post-fight press conference.

Kane vs Lukaku: Chelsea coach, Tuchel compares both strikers

Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel, has compared strikers, Harry Kane and Romelu Lukaku ahead of an EPL derby

Tuchel said both Kane and Lukaku scored decisive goals for their respective clubs.

The former Paris Saint-Germain manager stated this on Friday during his pre-match press conference ahead of his Chelsea's Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday evening.

Kane and Lukaku will face each other in a Premier League derby at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

"There is one big similarity [between Kane vs Lukaku] - they score decisive goals," Tuchel said.

"Apart from this, they are very different players."

"We need to focus if Kane plays on how to defend him."

Meanwhile, Chelsea head to the game following a 1-0 win against Zenith in the Champions League on Tuesday, while Tottenham played a 2-2 draw with Rennes in the Europa League on Thursday.

Tuchel's men currently sit in the second position on the Premier League table, while Spurs occupy the s eventh position.

Man Utd: Cristiano Ronaldo causing many problems for Solskjaer - Carragher

Former Liverpool defender, Jamie Carragher, has claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo's signing to Manchester United will cause 'many problems as it solves' for the manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, this season.

Carragher made the assertion ahead of Man United's Premier League clash with West Ham on Sunday.

Recall that Ronaldo made a stunning return to Man United from Juventus at the end of the summer transfer window, 12 years after leaving the Red Devils.

The 36-year-old Portugal captain has wasted no time getting off the mark for Man United, scoring two goals in a victory over Newcastle before adding one in a shocking 2-1 Champions League defeat to Young Boys.

"For all the understandable euphoria at Old Trafford with the return of Cristiano Ronaldo, his signing causes as many problems as it solves for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer," Carragher told the Telegraph.

"Ronaldo could prove to be a better signing for the Premier League than for Manchester United.

He added: "The broader question for United is whether Ronaldo's arrival gets them any nearer to being a team that can win the title and Champions League again.

"On the evidence of the first few games, albeit they have won three of their first five matches, I would say no. Ronaldo's match-winning ability will inevitably make United stronger. What his arrival alone cannot do is turn United into a title-winning unit or impose the distinctive way of playing they still lack."

It wasn't what I expected - Saul Niguez reflects on poor Chelsea debut

Saul Niguez has admitted his Chelsea debut did not go according to plan, after he endured a difficult 45 minutes on Saturday.

The midfielder, on loan from Atletico Madrid, was included in the Blues' starting XI for the visit of Aston Villa.

But Saul had a poor debut, which led to Thomas Tuchel taking him off at half time and bringing on Jorginho.

The 26-year-old was guilty of giving the ball away too many times, failing to press and dallying in possession and being caught out.

Several times, Edouard Mendy and Thiago Silva had to bail him out.

"Wasn't the expected debut," Saul wrote on social media, along with a picture of him with his new teammates.

"Really happy with my first game and victory with the team. Incredible to see Stamford Bridge full of Blues."

Manchester Utd 4 - 1 Newcastle (Sep-11-2021) Premier League Highlights

Cristiano Ronaldo was voted as Manchester United's Man of the Match against Newcastle having scored a brace on his Reds return.

It was all about Ronaldo at Old Trafford on Saturday. Our no.7 scored twice in his comeback match as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side went on to win 4-1 over the Magpies.

United supporters were delighted to see the Portuguese forward back in the red shirt at the Theatre of Dreams. Following his incredible performance, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner was voted Man of the Match by our fans. Ronaldo won the award with an incredible 85 per cent of the votes, one of the biggest winning margins in history.

Chelsea 3 - 0 Aston Villa (Sep-11-2021) Premier League Highlights

Romelu Lukaku, making his first home appearance since his return to the club, scored two fine goals either side of an opportunist effort from Mateo Kovacic as both players registered their first-ever goals at Stamford Bridge.

However, the scoreline does not reflect how hard-fought a win this was. After Lukaku had given us the lead on 15 minutes, Villa created several chances of their own in an end-to-end first half.
