[CBN] Court Remands Nigerian Actress In Prison For ‘Abusing’ New Naira Notes At Party

Nigerian actress, Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin, has been remanded in Kirikiri prison pending the determination of her bail application, for tampering with the naira notes.

 The 31-year-old was arrested following the sharing of an online video of her spraying and stepping on newly ‘redesigned’ naira notes at a party.

 

In the video, the actress is seen flaunting wads of the newly redesigned naira notes.

On Monday, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned Omoseyin before Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, on two counts brought against her.

 

One of the count reads, “That you Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin on the 28th day of January, 2023 at Monarch event center, Lekki within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court whilst dancing during a social occasion tampered

with the sum of N100, 000.00 (One Hundred Thousand Naira) issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria by dancing on same in the said occasion and you thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 21 (1) of the Central Bank Act, 2007.”

 

She however pleaded not guilty to the offence.

 

In view of her plea, the prosecution counsel, S.I Sulaiman asked the court for a trial date and prayed that the defendant be remanded in the appropriate correctional facility.

 

Justice Aneke deferred ruling on the bail application to Wednesday, February 15, 2023 and remanded the defendant in Kirikiri correctional facility.

The actress was earlier grilled by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for spraying the newly ‘redesigned’ naira notes at a party, which the anti-graft claimed violates Section 21 (5) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act of 2007.

The actress was arrested by operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Fraud Related Offences Commission, ICPC, on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 along Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, following intelligence report.

The actress was handed over to the EFCC for additional inquiries the following day.

A Range Rover and an iPhone were among the items found with her at the scene of the arrest.

Nigerian singer, Teniola Apatal a.k.a Teni, has challenged her ex record label boss, Shizzi to back his claims with a proof if he is truly the original producer of her hit song, 'Case'.

This comes after the record producer, Shizzi had called the singer out for allegedly reproducing the song 'Case' that was originally produced by him.

Reacting to the claims, Teni took to her Twitter handle to challenge her ex-boss saying, "Drop the stems if you really produced it. Drop the stems in 10 minutes or you're a lil bitch."

She added, "You that you wanted to waste my life. Signed me with no plans. You gave my songs away, my mother paid you in full and I got out the contract, I walked away peacefully. Thank God for my mom, I would've still been singing on the streets of  Atlanta."

Fatherhood is boring - Kizz Daniel

Popular Nigerian singer, Kizz Daniel has opened up on how being a father has changed his life.

Recall that the 27-year-old singer welcomed his twin boys; Jamil and Jelani sometime in May 2021.

Kizz Daniel also revealed he had triplets but lost one named 'Jamal' four days after.

In a question and answer with fans on Instagram, Kizz Daniel disclosed that although being a father is great, it has restricted him in some ways.

He mentioned that fatherhood has made him responsible and boring as he cannot use some words or act in certain ways in order to be a good role model for his children.

Kizz Daniel said: "Firstly being a father made me responsible, secondly I became fucking boring I can't even use the word fuck in the house because someone will be like don't use the word around my kids it's going to corrupt their mind at a little age.

"But fatherhood is good. You become more experienced and automatically a better person because you want to be a role model to your kids."

James Bond actor, Daniel Craig reveals why his children won't get inheritance

James Bond actor, Daniel Craig has revealed that none of his children will get his fortune because he finds inheritance distasteful.

Speaking to UK's Candis Magazine, the award-winning British actor said that he did not want "to leave great sums to the next generation" and plans to give his riches away instead.

"My philosophy is get rid of it or give it away before you go.

"There's an adage that if you die a rich person, you've failed.

"I think Andrew Carnegie gave away about $11 billion, which shows how rich he was but I'll bet he kept some of it too.

"As for me, I don't want to leave great sums to the next generation. I think inheritance is quite distasteful," he said.

The 007 star has three children, daughter Ella with his ex-wife Fiona Loudon, as well as a daughter with wife Rachel Weisz.

He also has a teenage stepson, Henry, through Weisz's previous relationship.

Ace Nigerian American-based singer, Denzel Oluwafemi Adeniyi popularly known as Shizem has described Nigerian music star, Wizkid as Africa's heritage and biggest music export.

He said this in reaction to Wizkid's successful remix of song "Essence" where he featured American A-list Grammy-award winning artist, Justin Bieber and Tems.

Bieber himself took to Instagram to officially thank WizKid for letting him jump on the remix, writing in a caption, "Thank u for letting me jump on the song of the summer. Essence remix out now."

Speaking on Wizkid, Shizem said, "Wizkid is Africa's heritage and biggest music export.

"His craft has no doubt paved the way for him on the global stage and I have never been more proud to be of the same tribe, and from the same country.

"He creates space and also gives inspiration for young African talents like us"

Shizem further added that his own coming single will feature one of Nigeria's biggest Afrobeat stars, though he would rather not reveal his name till the song is out.

He added that he hopes the new song, when released, makes as much impression as possible and can't wait for the fans to see it.

Onyeka Onwenu opens up on 'secret marriage, sleeping with Obasanjo'

Veteran singer, Onyeka Onwenu has finally clarified rumours that she had a secret marriage with former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo.

Onwenu in an interview with popular media personality, Chude Jideonwo, said the accusations that she slept with Obasanjo and had a secret marriage with the former President is false.

She also revealed she was accused while growing up of sleeping with many big men in Nigeria.

The veteran singer said: "I was accused of sleeping with Sunny Ade, Fela and Obasanjo.

"They even went to the extent of saying I got married to Obasanjo secretly. If he approached me to marry him, why would I keep it a secret? We would have made it public so that was funny."

She added that her marriage to her ex-husband would have almost killed her if not for her brother who saved her.

In a post on his verified Facebook page on Wednesday, Broda Shaggi lamented the division between ethnic and religious groups in the country as being portrayed by some citizens clamoring for secession.

Reacting to the current economic situation in Nigeria which is allegedly birthed by bad governance, he said "everybody has experienced some form of pain, cruelty, and neglect from the government and its law enforcement agencies".

The post reads, "There was a time when the 'WAZOBIA' ideal was popular; this Nigeria was our own and it didn't matter what region you were from.

New school Nigerian singing sensation, Daniel Benson, known better by his stage name, Buju has reacted after old tweets of him calling out Nigerian singers before he became famous, were dug up and recalled on the microblogging platform.

In the old tweets, the singer, who's been making waves with his singles and features in the span of close to two years, specifically outed a number of Nigerian singers, criticized their works and even called some "overrated".

In one tweet, he says "if everyone had his mentality, some musicians will not make it." In another tweet, he called Davido a "childish c**t". He called Mr Eazi overrated and outed Yemi Alade as well. 

After the singer's old tweets went viral on Twitter, he immediately deleted the tweets and then made a statement in reaction, saying at the time, he was ignorant.

According to him, making music has made him realize that it's easier to give "unsolicited takes" about another person's music when you do not make music.

He added, "Over the year's I have grown to understand that receiving and consuming music is way easier than actually making music."

The journey began with 24 talents and four coaches.

Each team consisted of six contestants who put in their best till the finale.

The four coaches for season 3 were Falz, Yemi Alade, Waje and Dare Art Alade.

Esther, who emerged the winner, battled with top finalists, Kpee and Eazzie.

As the winner, Esther goes home with N10 million cash, a car, and a record deal with Universal Musi c Nigeria.

 Lagos socialite Bobrisky has rained abuses on a troll who accused him of being irrelevant as a result of the new season 6 of BBNaija. 

The male barbie took to Instagram to flaunt his beauty and his beautiful tattoos.

Unfortunately, one of his followers had accused him of trying so hard to remain the focus and so advised him that he shouldn't try too hard trying to trend because Nigerians are all focused on the reality show.

Responding to the troll, Bobrisky cursed her as she referred to her as jobless and will remain jobless in his life and went on to ask her how those favorite celebrities have supported him or even patronized her business before.

 The movie star says his mother's inability to fund his education prevented him from enrolling into school. 

Ghanaian actor Van Vicker has finally graduated from school 24 years after his mates gained admission. 

Dressed in a graduation robe, the movie star revealed via his Instagram page that while his mates were enrolling to go to the university in 1997, his single mother couldn't afford to send him to school.

"21years later, here I stand before you with 3 achievements during my graduation; to God be the Glory. 1. 1st class honors. 2. Best Student in Strategic communication. 3. Best Communication Student Award," he wrote.
